WHAT IS THE CERTIFICATION THRESHOLD SERVICEĀ®?

Being ISO certified means that your organisation is able to effectively maintain a management system according to ISO standards. Although the process of becoming ISO certified can be long and seem challenging at times, it can be well worth the effort. However, whether or not ISO certification is right for your business depends on your organisation, as it can also be an expensive business largely due to Certification Body fees.

Implementing an ISO management system will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of your organisation’s processes. Management and employees will begin to notice how much easier their roles and workloads are to handle.

But smaller organisations can often be without the resources needed to become ISO certified. As a result, larger companies have a competitive advantage since they are more likely to afford certification and marketing their achievement after the fact.

In addition, since many larger organisations require that the companies they work with have certification, small companies that are unable to get certified lose out on winning their business.

THE SOLUTION - INTRODUCING THE CERTIFICATION THRESHOLD SERVICEĀ®

We created the Certification Threshold Service® whereby we implement a compliant management system to the requirements of your chosen ISO standards, which is audited by a third party and where you get a Certificate of Attestation showing conformance to the standards.

This means you can hold your company at the threshold of ISO compliance until such time as you take the decision to certify to UKAS via a Certification Body.

When you become a client of Ideas Distillery, this service and the resulting Certificate is provided completely FREE OF CHARGE as we treat it as an Internal Audit.
This means you can operate your business to ISO standards, demonstrate your compliance, but don’t have to go to the expense of UKAS accredited certification until you need to - you get all the benefits without the initial outlay.

Just use the Cost Benefit Analysis Tool to see the difference in costs with and without Certification Body fees. We would always encourage you to go down the road of UKAS-certification eventually, but if you simply can't justify the costs at present then this is a great compromise until you can.

Due to the nature of ISOs, it can be difficult to work out whether it’s cost-effective - many of the costs fall into the ‘it depends’ category (it depends on your company size, sector, risks, etc) and the benefits will depend on many things so can only be estimated.

Accepting all this, we’ve tried to help you put together a rough-and-ready calculation to address the main areas of becoming ISO certified or just getting a management system.

The idea is, at the end of the process, you can see the overall costs and compare these with the overall benefits, in the context of both one-off and ongoing costs and benefits, and how ISOs might benefit you (or not) in the long term.

The downloadable CBA Tool and accompanying guide will quickly get you underway populating the Cost Benefit Analysis spreadsheet.
