Get yourself over to the new standards
All management system standards are subject to a periodic review process, normally every 5 years, to ensure that the standard:

This revision of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 are significant as a result of fundamental changes to both the structure and contents of the standards. In September 2015 the new edition was rolled out for both standards giving a three-year transition period during which your ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2009 registration is valid.
This means that 14th September 2018 will be the cut-off point, and all organisations need to be accredited to the new 2015 standards. Although this seems like a long time away, many certification bodies are asking their clients to look at this now, for a number of reasons. |
While it is true that the transition period does not end until September 2018, it is not just required that your audit is conducted by this date. If any nonconformities are discovered during the audit, they must be addressed with corrective action, and the business must review and approve the audit package by the transition deadline. A late July 2018 audit, for example, does not provide enough time for this to happen.
Also, if all companies leave it as late as possible, there could be a serious issue with certification bodies not having enough auditors to ensure all clients can be accommodated in time. All transition audits must be completed within 120 days of the transition end date of September 14, 2018. Thus, all transition audits must be completed by May 14, 2018.

Maintaining a Quality Management System against two standards can be more costly and provide greater scope for error. And implementing changes across your company may well be less costly and labor intensive if you implement them over a good period of time.
We can help by undertaking a programme of work to successfully transition you to the 2015 standard, which includes:
